Beauty Disappointments in 2012

We've had the Best of 2013 that you can see HERE so why not write about the things I've tried and wish I had not?
There will only be few of them, because when I buy something I usually do it when  I'm sure I'm going to like it. Don't like to go with trends or super talked about products just for the sake of it, so most of what I got last year has been satisfying, but there's two or three that were not so great.

Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base
I'm not saying the products is bad but the color is a yellow/orange tone that looks like I have a liver disease.
Truth be told, I got it in a rush because I went into the store, saw no other eyeshadow primers, then caught a glimpse of this and just grabbed it.
Clearly, not the best idea. I've used it once and never since. Again, not saying the products is bad in itself but the color is just impossible. I don't know who it looks ok on to be honest.

Flormar Spiderlash Mascara
Can we discuss the name for a moment?  Why would you name a mascara Spiderlash? That's really the last thing I want my lashes to look like.
Other than that, it has a weird brush because from what I felt, it seemed to be stiff plastic. Not so great.
I got this at a beauty bloggers event and decided to try it, even if I know very well that I'm a fan of anything but fiber mascaras for a reason. They do not irritate, they nourish and have a lovely formula.
Well, this is not a fiber mascara. It does leave your lashes looking pretty long and natural, to my surprise, but it was not long before my eyes started to sting and became red. I had to wash it off immediately and it just consolidated my Fiber Mascara Only policy.

Mi-Ny Glam F Blue
This polish has a great color, as you can see in The Swatches Here but I really dislike using it because of the formula. I've noticed this was the only one from the brand with this formula, because all others I got were ok, but this one dried so slow and  need 3 or 4 coats to get a somewhat opaque looking result.
That's my only complaint, and that's why I've only used it once or twice since july, which is a pity since I really like the color.

Do you have any disappointing products you don't love as much as you expected to?

Nail Shapes : Round Vs Square

Most of my life, I've had my nails in a round or rounded shape
They've never really been Dita Von Teese like, almost pointy nails, but visibly round.

It probably had something to do with them being much prettier looking to me.
But then I tried square nails.
Well square nails are really not the best shape for my hand. I suppose they will look better once they get longer but I think I'm still going to stick with round.I'm giving them a go as we speak and they look much better without nail polish on. But since we all know I need color on my nails, that's not really good news, now is it?

I am curious, what's your preference? Round or square? Actually, have you tried both yet? I've only just given square nails a go recently to be quite honest. Never had them this edgy before.

Monday Blues: Snow Queen Nails

It's blue time of the week again!

I've been saying last week, when I posted the Swirl Nails, that I'm slowly and surely running out of blues but seems I can still find combinations where I can re-use some polishes.

Fact is, I'm more of a pastel person and blues and greens are an occasional purchase. But hey, it just makes your creativity go wild when you run out of colors and have to combine old ones to make something new.

So today I used two polishes you've already seen. China Glaze Liquid Crystal and the Mi-Ny Glam F Blue to bring you Snow Queen Nails!

We all know by now I have a serious love for glitter, and I recommend you read my intense raving about the China Glaze Liquid Crystal because it has to be one of the most fascinating polishes I own.

This manicure really gives me the feeling of ice and snow, thus the name I gave it. I think this will look even better in winter, with actual snow around.
I'm envisioning a white coat with these nails. Might need to go look for one now!

I was really surprised to see how well these two colors work together and how subtle and girly these nails look. Also impressed about the fact that 3 days after, and there's no chipping. I think I should dedicate a post to my incredible top coat.

With that being said, I leave you to check out the other lovelies that take part in the Blues, and hope your Monday will mean a great start to the week!

Pastel Vs. Neon

Summer is all about colors, and for me, two big categories are standing out : Pastel and Neon.
Both in beauty and fashion, these two mark a trend that has the potential to stay with us for a while.

But my question is, when it comes to your nails, which one do you prefer for summer?
I personally love both.
Pastels make me feel pretty and light and neons make me feel "oh yeah, summer!!!" (check the post about my favorite neon) .
Depending on mood,I have worn all polishes below in the past couple of months.

So here's some of my stash.

NEONS

Which one is your pick for the summer?

Polka Dot Nails and What To Do When You Own No Dotting Tool

Couple days ago I got two very cute polishes. One was THIS the other one was a pretty pastel pink. Obviously I had to try it on,and as I saw it on my nails I knew it needed little polka dots to make it perfect.

The problem was,I own no dotting tool and was wondering what I can use instead. And then,I saw what was going to be the life saving device. I'm gonna get back to it in a sec,but first I'll show you the finished product:

Mi-Ny in Dali

I like to stare at them, they make me feel so pretty

And now,I want to ask : do you wish to know what made these polka dots happen? Here you go:

That's right,my eyebrow brush!
The bottom of it is perfectly rounded and serves its purpose very well.Just dip it in some nail polish you put on a paper and then tap it on your nails. It will leave a lovely dot. I suggest you do it with the brush slightly inclined and not exactly with the tip of the bottom as it will give you more security in maneuvering it.
So in case you want dots and have no tools,I recommend it! :)

Mi-Ny: Glam F. Blue

We interrupt our program for a special message that is about how I found a whole big nail polish store at the mall yesterday and almost had a happiness stroke!
The brand is MiNy or Mi-Ny (I'm still unsure about the hyphen). They're an italian brand that has everything my little polish addicted heart desires. Obviously I couldn't leave the store empty handed,so I got the first two polishes that I remembered I was missing. Let it be said, they have so so so so many colors!

Today,I present you : Glam F. Blue
I initially grabbed it because I thought it was grey but then I saw the lovely blue shiny particles in it and was hooked.

Here's a better view of how the blue particles shine. They are less visible as such on the nail, but overall, you get a very icy look, with slight blue reflexes and me likey a lot!

As you can see, they are free of Toluene,Formaldehyd,Dbp and Camphor.Plus points!
