The Light & Bright Face

This is becoming a habit isn't it? Well, can't say that I mind, because I really like showing you what I wear, especially during sunny spring weekends!

As you can see, I've included a clear nail polish to this, simply because clear polish looks quite fabulous. It gives you the right amount of chic and will always have your nails looking cared for. Now as I was looking for a transparent polish, I came to the stunned conclusion that I only own a Deborah Lippmann one in this particular "shade". Don't ask why I chose to purchase a DL clear polish for I know not, but I feel less guilty now that I actually use it.
A HUGE favourite for the lips is the Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp LipGloss . It keeps your lips looking fabulously sheer but also plumps them. It really does. I love the stuff!
On the eyes, I'm very seldom to be seen without some sort of black contour and the choice of the day is a Models Own Kohl Pencil which, I actually got a as a gift but am using ever so often. I'm more of a liner kind of gal, but this is a soft alternative.
My favourite corner-of-the-eye/browbone highlighter is from the Natural Collection in the shade White Opal. I have yet to find a more beautiful shimmer. And it costs less than 2£!
And then of course, the unmissable Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze, which is quite the stunner!

What's on your face this  weekend?

September Favorites

I once said it would be a miracle for me to post my favorites on the first day of the month, as I tend to usually post favorites a wee bit late. Well, the miracle has yet to happen but guys! It's the 2nd and favorites are up. At least a pat on the back is in order I'd say.

99% of this month's favorites are new ones, and all except my trusty Burt's Bees Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub (review here) have been acquired in September or slightly before.

The Origins Drink Up Intensive face mask is basically everything and more they make it out to be. The one thing that really lives up to its hype. I mean, this thing is Fantastic!

I've been on the fence about getting the Benefit Sun Beam because they do say there are many dupes out there and the price is not fully justifiable. But I was in Boots one day and they had this cute Benefit mini pack which also contained the Sun Beam and I have to say, I am impressed! It lasts much longer than any of the dupes and the tiniest amount results in a beautiful glow.

Another thing that has recently reached me is the Burt's Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter and so far I'm really happy with it. Does its job SO well and smells amazing! Review to follow very soon,I'm just making it jump through more hoops at the moment.

Then of course, the Maybelline Color Tattoos. I've been using On and on Bronze most, but as you can see, I gracefully grabbed the wrong one. Nevertheless, everything about them impresses me: lasting power, color,texture...everything!

Moving on to lip love, I have become obsessed with the Top Shop Lip Crayons ( Review here ) . All I can say, this is what made me love mattes again. And of course, the beauty that is the Revlon Lip Butter    ( review also found here ). It's my go-to lip product at the moment. Sheer but strong enough to make an impact and beautifully moisturizing!

So that was what I've been really liking this past month. Do we have any monthly loves in common and have you tried any of these?

Adding Maybelline Color Tattoos To The Collection

The day has come where I walked into a Boots and did not forget to buy the Maybelline Color Tattoos! You'd be surprised how easily I get distracted and end up getting something completely different that what was initially planned. But this time I made it my mission to try them out and get them if I liked what I saw.
What convinced me was the fact that I smeared them on my hand in the afternoon and at around 11 pm, after multiple cleansings of the hands, the color was still there. Visibly there!
Thank God the Boots at Piccadilly is open til midnight so I walked in and was even happier to see how they had a 3 for 2 offer happening.
Maybelline Color Tattoo pink gold eternal gold on and on bronze
I love me some shimmer and these three have that in plenty! If it's shimmer you're after I suggest you go for the Eternal Gold. It might look nice and innocent in this pot but once it hits the skin it explodes in pure golden glitter. Not the most wearable thing during the day but if you layer it with On and on Bronze you will get a gilded bronze on your eyes. So far I've really liked wearing On and on Bronze with a dash of Pink Gold on the outer parts of the lids.

I'll definitely come back with a post with not only swatches but also with my eye for show. I just really wanted to show you my new little beauties because I'm very impressed with their texture, color and durability. If you haven't tried them yet, I really suggest you do because they're magnificent!

Beauty Bits I Picked Up In London

So here we are, showing off beauty bits once more! My last London trip consisted of a much less varied array of purchases. If I remember well it was a lipgloss I convinced myself into buying, and a lot ( I really mean A LOT) of nail polishes. Yeah, so much for diversity.
Well this time, even if I had less time for shopping, I had a better idea of what can be found in London and where. And here's what I ended up with.

Last time I did a bit of sampling because even if I had heard a lot of great things about certain products, I wasn't going to buy them just like that, especially since they were skincare items. Such was the case with the REN  Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. It was one of those "I need this!" things, but upon testing it, I wasn't that blown away. Basically it did nothing for me. My skin is usually pretty good so I suspect I just didn't need it. It was good to try before just buying and having it sit there unused.
The other thing I tried last time was the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask. Now that one really helped since my biggest issue is having dry skin. It really was the first thing I got when I arrived. First trip was to Selfridges and by evening I was happily smearing it on my face.
Something else I loved the sound of was the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. I already had the regular tinted moisturizer and still use it on days where I just look dead tired, by mixing it up with some of my BB cream. Well... I am sad to report that while it looked absolutely amazing it feels like dust. At least for me. It just cannot compare to the fresh feeling the Maybelline BB Cream, like having just splashed water on my face. Suppose I'm spoiled now.

Other things I got were the Batiste Dry Shampoo, basically just a refill because it's such a life saver! Then I really wanted to try the Maybelline Color Tattoo and since Boots had a 3 for 2 thing going on, I ended up picking up the golden one also. I can tell you know, I'm liking them a lot!
Also in Boots they had this cute mini Benefit package with the Sun Beam, Posie and Cha Cha Tint.To be honest, I didn't need any of them but they looked so cute! Must say, I really like what the Sun Beam can do.
And of course, the Revlon Lip Butters. It's been awhile I wanted to get one but my face is not made for wearing pink and this particular one, the Creme Brulee seemed to never be in stock. Until now.
And then, guys, I discovered the Top Shop lip section! Never a huge fan of matte things as they dried out my lips to destruction, but upon trying the Top Shop Lip Pencil I was in complete awe! It stays on for what seems forever and doesn't dry your lips out. The Lip Bullet is more hydrating to begin with as it has a shimmery finish but the color...wow! Big fan here. I wish they had a bigger array of lip pencils because a nude one like that would save my life.If you have any other lip pencil suggestions, throw them my way, please!
Last but not least, stocked up on the Eyeko Fat Mascara because you can't not know what a fan I am by now!

Now, is there any one of these you'd like me to review first?

May Favorites

Quite pink this month, aren't we?
I've managed to get a sorta flu last month, which has led to some magnificent revelations, like how the MOA Balm can basically do anything, from cleaning your face, to keeping it hydrated to curing rashes from constant nose blowing. I'm not sure there's enough space here to go on about how incredibly grateful I am to this thing.
Then  we have the oils, one that is almost empty and in need of refilling is the Burt's Bees Lemon & Vitamin E Body Oil. I'm quite sure I will pledge allegiance to Burt's Bees soon.
The generic Castor Oil has also proven to be a grand ol' invention of nature. Apply it on lashes and brows and it will make them fuller and stronger. Same goes for your hair and the hardening part for the nails. I will say though, I heard stories of wild hair appearing anywhere this oil touched the skin. I'm here to tell you "not really". It takes a while for this thing to have effect, so don't panic if you drop oil on your chin. No goatee will pop up.
A surprising favorite is the L'Erbolario Rose Shower Gel. I say surprising because its smell reminds me more of hospital and almost not at all of rose, but it has such great ingredients and leaves the skin so nice that I've been tempted to ignore the sanitary smell.
The nails have seen a significant increase of Orly Gumdrop use, as you can see on my nails herehere and more recently here.
And of course: the face. I'm still using the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream and my one true lash friend, the Eyeko Fat Brush Mascara. Both still impressing me a long time into using them. You can read the respective reviews by clicking the links and I must say, my opinion has only improved since.

And what are some of your favorites?

What's Been On My Face Recently

Spring time, happy time, finally healthy looking face time. And by that I mean naturally healthy looking, thanks to the sun and the light and the general well-being that spring likes to pump in us. Which also means there hasn't been that much on my face. So let me show you what I've been using mostly.

laura marecier tinted moisturizer, maybelline bb cream, eyeko skinny liner fat brush mascara, maybelline fit me concealer swatch review ck bronzing powder
Because my skin is less dry and flakey...well actually not dry and flakey at all to be precise, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer can now be worn much better than in winter. You might remember the post where I just wasn't that thrilled about this moisturizer. It was basically because of said dry and flakey skin that just got enhanced by it. What can always be worn in amazing fashion is the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I have to admit I will always pick this one over, well, anything, as it really gives me a fresh feel and even with a face oil under, it works perfectly.
The great news is that I don't need the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer all the time anymore. Yes, I need it at the office because 8 hours into it, even the freshest of faces starts to look unmotivated, but other than that, I can easily pass.
Another optional item is the Hema Eyeshadow Base because the Eyeko Skinny Liner sits so well that you really don't need anything under it for it to not move until you remove it yourself.
Same goes for the Eyeko Fat Mascara. Perfectly natural looking and you don't even feel it on your lashes. Not to promote sleeping with mascara on because that's a general No Way! but even if you would sleep with this one on, the ingredients would basically just nourish your lashes anyway.
And then, my loveliest of them all, the magical final touch that is just the perfect shade, shine and form CK Sun Dance Bronzing Powder. Unlike most bronzers, this one actually looks really natural on you and some days I admit, I don't need it. But I really like putting it on!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Swatch and Review

If I were to run out of the house, I'd still throw some concealer on me. And that is simply because whenever I'm tired or worn out, the first place it shows are my eyes. They're an indicator of everything: how much I've slept, how tired I am, how much I've been staring at a screen. You can even check my mood.
That's why, the best investment for me is in concealers. I'm not a fan of heavy concealers that make you look photoshopped more than anything and feel just as fake. I like the light ones that get the job done while leaving you looking naturally fresh.

Well, this is one of them.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer swatch and review

Initially, I didn't know if the color would be right, as I picked it up in Sand, and it did seem more yellow than anything, but the good news is, it actually "fits me". Which means, a dab here and a blend there and it looks like you were born with it. And that, was unintentional. I just now realized that Maybelline have that "maybe she was born with it" line.... The subconscious works well.
In any case, I like how light it is and how you need such a small amount to cover up so much!
That's another bonus, it has really good coverage. Like I said, I like my coverage to look natural and this does the job very well.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer swatch and review

As you can see, it even blends with my somewhat pinkish hand. In the beginning I would slap it on in industrial quantities, until I realized it really just needs a dab to cover up nicely.
I also like that it doesn't crease, especially on my dry skin, and not even when I use oil underneath. So I suppose, even with oily skin, you'd be fine.
And the formula, well that's just a great one. Super light and not at all powdery or flakey. Really one of the best ones I've tried.

All In All: Definitely a repurchase!

Got Myself A Little Haul

I don't think I've ever done one of these, have I ? Well, I've been lucky enough to have gotten all of my online purchases pretty much at once this time.  I don't know about you, but I really like unpacking things and to have so many to unpack was right up my alley.
So, without further ado, here's what I got:

Starting off with the matters of the face, I've once again stocked up on Eyeko and got the liner extra, because that's just how nice the people at Eyeko.com are. That and free shipping.
And from Feelunique.com I went on and got the Rimmel Apocalips in Nude Eclipse that I've been craving. I'll congratulate myself for that purchase later. Then, I figured I'd try the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm.

And now, let's get to the colorful part: the nail polishes

Sally Hansen Greige Gardens, Gray by Gray and Yellow Kitty. Then from China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint on, Unpredictable, Mimosas before Manis and Sunday Funday. And last but not least Orly Gumdrop and Essie Mojito Madness

I was especially excited about these three from the China Glaze Spring Collection and so far I've tried Sunday Funday and Keep Calm, Paint on. Both of them I REALLY like!

And here's where it's your turn, which ones would you want to see reviewed first?

Laura Mercier Vs. Maybelline: My Face's Favorite

A while back I got the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer which I had been dying to try, especially since the hype it was getting. I was expecting majestic things from it. Beyond majestic. Stuff of unspeakable glory.
Now the question is: did it deliver?

laura mercier tinted moisturizer maybelline dream fresh bb cream review

Let so much be said, the result is surprising.
I had gotten the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream because I read reviews that said "if you want a really good tinted moisturizer, this is it". And they were right. It's an amazingly fresh moisturizer that fixes well...pretty much everything. If you want to read the full review you can read it HERE.
After such a great BB cream/tinted moisturizer I was expecting somewhat the same result from the Laura Mercier one, seen as it was specifically created to be a tinted moisturizer.
Well, I didn't get it. I get much better moisturizing from the BB cream. I have dry skin, but the Laura Mercier one claims to be good for all skin types and I of course use a serum or oil under it anyway.
It feels a bit heavy, a bit too heavy, or at least heavier than I was used to from the Maybelline BB cream. And my skin doesn't even look half as good. For the first time this winter, I had  spots on my face where my skin literally looked dry. This had never happened with the BB cream.
The "Fresh" part of the BB cream became really clear when using the Laura Mercier moisturizer. No such sensation was given in its case.
Now,  maybe I'm just spoiled , but I'm not a fan of how it feels on my face and don't use it alone anymore.
When I'm in need of more coverage, I just mix a bit of the moisturizer into the BB cream and we're set. Because when it comes to coverage, the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is champ. It has really good, yet natural looking coverage and if you get the color right, it's an ideal alternative to foundation.

Who's the Winner then?

Undisputedly, Maybelline BB Cream wins this one. It's because of the fresh, super light and moisturizing feel to it. Sure, it doesn't have immense coverage, but I don't mind it at all. My face gets along with is incredibly well and even if the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer brings some good things to the table, I don't like how it feels on my face. Maybe in summer, when my skin is less dry, I will prefer it, but it's not really ideal for the winter or the winter to spring transition period.
For now, I'm going to be sticking to my fresh BB cream.

Have you tried any of these two? Do you agree or would you have a completely different result?

February Favorites

I'm clearly staying true to the "took you long enough" concept with getting round to posting favorites.
For the record, photos had been ready since February but time has been very scarce around these parts and that is the reason why it took me a bit to get this post up and running.

I am ridiculously picky with the things I let touch my face especially, but ever since the discovery of the Vichy Pureté Thermale Soothing Eye Make Up Remover For Sensitive Eyes and the Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water , I've reached a whole new level of picky because I don't think anything else will match the greatness of those two combined. My insanely dry skin stopped feeling like it was going to crack after taking my make-up off.

Now let me tell you about my AMAZING discovery! My hair has been on an off its game and misbehaving every now and then due to insanely dry and unfriendly conditions. BUT that all changed when I got my package from the swap with Grace. Because Aussie's Luscious Long Conditioner and Shampoo were in it. A review on them is coming real soon but let me tell you: my hair has not felt this great in a quite a while!

Moving back to my face, you will see a pretty surprising winner in my showdown between Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream and the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but for now, I will tell you that the fresh sensation this BB cream offers is simply incredible.
Paired with it, for most of February, has been the Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Face Cream that has left my face feeling ridiculously soft and supple. And a new color favorite is the MUA Lipstick in Bare.

Last but not least, the nails.
Recently purchased, OPI Nail Envy is already impressing me enough to have it in my favorites. And the Sally Hansen Real Teal and Farmasi No. 55  (for they just number them) have been recent color obsessions of mine.

That was it from me, but what about you? Do we share any favorites here? Or is there anything you'd want to try from this post?

January Favorites

This month there's not so many favorites but they're definitely Most Used Products

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: You can read the review by clicking on the link and I have to say, I didn't expect to like this so much. Was reluctant to getting a BB cream to begin with but I'm quite glad I did!

Vichy Waterproof Eye MakeUp Remover: Still loving it, especially combined with Bioderma Sensibio you can also see in the favorites. My review of the Vichy MakeUp Remover you can read clicking on the link above and I do believe that I have now found a pretty solid face routine that is amazing. I don't wash my face anymore with water because Bioderma covers that perfectly AND does not dry out my skin.
The little bottle you see here was the test size I got to see if I like it and just today I got the big bottle, which is a pretty big deal. I repurchase veeeery rarely.

Hema Eyeshadow Base: Review is on the way and I have to day, I have yet to find an eyeshadow base that is as amazing as this one. Absolutely loving it!

Catrice Gel Eyeliner: Still such a huge favorite. A holy grail product and especially in winter, that perfectly thick black line makes for an efficient, fast look.

Rosebud Strawberry Lip Salve: Two years in and still my favorite balm. I go back to this when everything else fails. And this one always delivers. But it's been getting increasingly hard to get hold of it,so if someone can give me a tip where to get it, I'd be VERY grateful!

Nail Polishes:  This month has been Glitter Revival Month and the W7 Silver Dazzle  has been great for it. You can see it in my post from Sunday with the Week in Pictures and I think you'll agree it looks fantastic.
Secondly I have this ancient Farmasi polish whose number has disappeared but that still is the best gold I have owned. You can see it in action in This Post.

These have been my favorites in the past month and I believe they'll be making more appearances.  How about you, any of your favorites mentioned here? What about new ones? I'm always searching for beauty goodies!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Review

I finally did it. Went out and got me a BB Cream. I will admit that the real reason was that my tinted moisturizer was all gone and I couldn't find it anymore to restock. So, after reading some reviews, I decided to try the Maybelline 8 in 1 BB cream.
I had tried some Garnier and L'Oreal in the store but they turned all orange and flakey on my skin. This one on the other hand kept its smooth texture and the initial color, which was also a reason I decided to get it

Maybelline BB Cream Review
I had read a review that said that if you want a good tinted moisturizer, this is the cream to get.
It really has a fresh feel to it, like the name says, because it is water based and it makes your skin feel like you just splashed water on it. I really like getting that feeling with creams.

Here's what the 8 in 1 are:

• Blurs imperfections
I'm gonna be honest and admit I don't really have them, so I can't judge if they are indeed blurred or not

• Brightens
It does brighten. I get a very nice glow that lasts for the whole day. As I write this ( because I wrote it last night) it's 7pm and I've had it on since 8am. Skin is still looking nice and bright

• Evens skin tone
Well, it is a tinted moisturizer so it does even things out. But since it has pretty light coverage, don't expect any red spots to become invisible because I don't think it will do that. I only have a more pale color sometimes and it does do a good job in blending that in with the rest of my skintone

• Smoothes
Again, my skin is smooth in itself so I cannot judge if it does or does noth smoothen things out

• Hydrates
This one I can vouch for.My skin is dry and still, I never feel it being dry during the day. Even if I work with one of the worse air conditioning systems known to man, that does nothing but dry anything in its way, my skin has been keeping up quite nicely.

• Enhances
I'm not sure what there is to enhance. Clearly it doesn't enhance blemishes. Maybe your skin's natural attributes? Could be, but since I'm not sure I'll just keep quiet on this one

• Protects with SPF 30
My skin is a bit olive toned so I never really pay attention to SPF ( I can hear your horror now) but it definitely is a good thing to have in a day cream.

• 0% oils and heavy ingredients
You'd think no oil no moisture and you'd be wrong. By oils they mean the ones that clog pores and give you more bad than good.
As I said, it's water based so it's what I like to call super awesome! It makes you feel really fresh and as if you just put something super light on your skin.
I also have to add, this cream is incredibly liquid so don't think something is wrong with it, but a little will go a long way.

Something for you?

If you like light to medium coverage, yes. Don't expect this to be a foundation. It is a day cream with color that has a great feel to it.
It's obviously not going to hide your dark circles, but then again a foundation doesn't do that either.
I can only agree with the review I read that said that if you want a tinted moisturizer with great ingredients and a great feel to it, this is your cream.

Have you tried this cream yet, or any other BB Creams?
