Nailcare?

Everyone wants nice, strong nails but do we put the effort in getting them there and maintaining them? Especially if, like me, you're a nail painter, those nails will want to take a break every now and then and manifest their wishes in a less than joyful manner, like flaking, breaking, dry cuticles and many more.

Here's what I'm using at the moment to keep the tiny ones happy:

First up, you need to nourish those nails and the best thing I have ever used has been this turquoise mass from Hema whose writing has by now faded away forever but I know it is a growth and restore serum kind of thing, with calcium. If you're in a Hema (and this is for all you Dutch people out there) , you will definitely recognize it by its color.  I do recommend calcium based nail nourishing substances, because calcium is one of those things that keeps teeth and nails alike strong. Whenever I forget to use it, I definitely see the difference. And when I use it, I see the difference even more. My nails become Batman.

Then, for the cuticles, but also for the nail's all-round well being I like to use a nail oil and a cuticle butter. The nail oil I use is almond oil based and it's basically designed for the cuticles but oil on the nail is a great thing as it nourishes it. Same goes for cuticle butter. Great for cuticles but your nails will also be thankful.
The funnies thing about this Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream  is that I once evening put it on my cuticles and nails and by the morning, my parched nails woke up looking stunning! So, that's something I will not be parting with.

Always be careful when putting polish on your nail. Nail polish is not made from unicorn sparkles and love, it has serious chemicals in it, which means you need to protect your nail as much as possible. My current favorite is Orly's Nail Armor which not only protects, but is enforced with silk fibres to strengthen the nail.

If you're curious about OPI's Nail Envy, I have tried that too but it didn't wow me at all. You can find the full "Why" in my review here

So what do you do for your nails?

Double The Blue Nails

You might remember my post on the Farmec Summer Nail Collection  a while ago and you might recall two shades of blue that I really liked. Well, today I wanted to show them to you. Initially, it was just going to be the dark blue, but then I said "bright one deserves some attention too!" and slapped it on the ring finger.

What you see here is the dark Deep Dive and the electric Pool Party. Pool party is such a cool shade! And initially I thought it looked like China Glaze's Sunday Funday, but that one is much more toned down in many respects. This is a serious pop of color and ideal for summer.Like I said before, I like to think of it as the little brother of Nails Inc Baker Street.

How glorious are these two shades? I can't get over the gorgeousness of the deep blue and the vibrancy of the other one. I'm definitely super impressed with these Farmec polishes!

Farmec Spring Nail Polish Collection and Swatches

You might not have heard of farmec, and that is a pity. They are a Romanian cosmetic brand that make surprisingly great nail polishes. I think the first nail polish that lasted more than 5 days on my nails was one of theirs. And now, they were lovely enough to send me all of their polishes from the Farmec Summer Collection *.

At first glance I looked a bit  suspicious at these little bottles because the colors didn't seem that summery, BUT as soon as I swatched them, I realized they were indeed Puh-retty awesome!

All of them are two coats. Just that the bright blue one wouldn't have needed a second coat, it covered perfectly on the first try.  The texture is absolutely brilliant, no streaks, no trouble, no issues.

From left to right  you have:
Deep Dive - a really great deep blue with a gorgeous shimmer
Pool Party - doesn't look that electric now, but on the nails it reminds me of Nails Inc. Baker Street
Spring Break - a green that looks much deeper in the bottle but turns awesome on the nail
Exotic Dream - one of those coral reds that everyone should have at hand for summer
Flip Flop - definitely the girly one of the bunch but so pretty on the nails. Not pink, not neutral and not red.        Just pretty.

If you live in Romania, you have a list of shops that carry the polishes Right Here , if not, you can always get them online on the Farmec Website.
So what do you think of these nice colors?
