My Favorite Face Oils

I have concluded that my dry skin doesn't really react that good to creams, moisturizers or serums. What I have discovered is that my skin LOVES natural oils and butters!
So here are the oils that are very good to my skin, especially through the winter months.

Argan Oil: is what I use on a daily basis now. It's perfect as a make-up base also. You wouldn't think it is because well...it's an oil. But it has no oily residue and your skin just feels moisturized a few seconds after applying it.
I use it before going to bed and in the morning. Especially in winter, you need an extra barrier against the cold and I find this to be ideal.
By now, I would suppose we all know what argan oil can do, having great anti aging properties and moisturizing gorgeously. Another thing I do with it is apply some on my hands and hair before going to bed. It really reduces the need for hand cream and in the hair department, it really helps with keeping it from drying out, especially with long hair like mine, where the tips are always at risk.

Apricot Kernel Oil: I use this more in summer, as it's lighter than many of the other oils and doesn't mind the heat. I've written a review about it HERE where you can read all about the great things it can do.

Rosehip Oil: I like to mix it with other oils, but when I use it alone it gives my skin an incredibly gorgeous glow. This one also falls into the category of oils full of antioxidants and anti-wrinkle/aging properties. I prefer to use it at night, after cleaning my face, because at night your skin is at its thirstiest and will appreciate the help even more.

And now, to the heavy duty oils

Avocado Oil: I use this oil, like the next one I will show you, when I need extra moisturizing. It's not an everyday kind of oil, not even for insanely dry skin such as mine, because it is very effective in what it does and there's no need to overdo it. When I feel I need an extra boost of vitamin E and hydration I got for the avocado oil.
If you have acne or itchy skin, it's even better, since it will soothe your skin.
And if we're talking super antioxidants, this oil is definitely the place to go.

I saved the bast for last, as you do, and that is

Pomegranate Oil: When I don't use it as a face oil, I use it as an eye cream. Honest! This is my ultimate dry skin savior, as only one use on the face will cure any dryness.
This oils has the best wrinkle fighting, age signs reducing and hydrating properties of all. That's why it's also perfect for the skin around your eyes.It has a very thick texture so you will need very little of it.
Pomegranate seed oil adds moisture, anti-oxidants, is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, improves skin elasticity, and protects the skin. It provides relief from minor skin irritations and inflammation, including dry skin, eczema, psoriasis and sunburned skin.
I'd like to add it in the "great oils" category and is definitely a huge favorite.

If I'd have to chose, I'd probably always have Argan and Pomegranate oil with me.

Whatever oil you use or plan on using, make sure they are unrefined and as little messed around with as possible, or else many of the benefits or the oils will be lost.

Do you use any oils? If so,which ones? I'm always looking for more!

This or That? Avocado Vs Avocado Face Mask

Couple days ago, I was sitting there looking at the avocado I was about to prepare and I noticed one of my face masks in the corner. It was also an avocado face mask, or so it said.

I then started thinking, why do we always go for the pretty packaged things and discredit the ingredients?

I mean ok, sometimes it's safer to process certain ingredients so that they are less risky when applied to your skin. Like lemons. You'll most likely want a lemon extract and not the zest that might sting like there's no tomorrow.
My skin can take a lot, I'd dare to say it can take almost anything without reacting, but I'm sure not everyone is like me, so of course I don't encourage zesting yourself.
This begs the question though: if it irritates and it's not naturally your skin's buddy, why do people insist on making it? It's like one of those comics when someone pushes two dolls nose in nose and aggressively says "now kiss!". If it's not naturally friendly, maybe it's not meant to be on your face in the end.

In this case though, we have the avocado. And the avocado is basically fat with vitamins. It's something you can probably slap on quite carelessly on your face. And it works. At least for me. I get a slice and rub it on my face quite often to be honest. It's easy and it does a great job, as I have pretty dry skin.

The mask on the other hand...well it's some avocado and then 10 other ingredients in order to keep the avocado feeling jolly.
See, not even the avocado wants so be in there.
Of course, since I have it, I will be using this mask too, I just might not do it as often as I'd use the actual avocado.

For me, I'll always go for that which has less ingredients and is less processed. Which, much like food, should be the instinctive choice. Why wouldn't you use the same reasoning like for the products you let inside you, for the ones you put on you?
It seems fair to me.

So in this case, the avocado is a clear winner.
What do you think?

What's In My Travel Bag and About Traveling Essentials

I've been away for a bit over a week and have had to live out of my backpack, and my makeup bag respectively.
So I decided to show you what I took with me and what I think you should always have with you.

what's in my travel bag rimmel mememe l'oreal eyeko fat brush lumi magique garnier deo eyelash curler
I just use some basics on a daily basis, and when traveling they sometimes become even less but what I do need are:
- deodorant
- face oil
- tinted moisturizer for during the day
- mascara
- eyelash curler

The first three keep my skin happy and keep me fresh. The last two contribute to the pretties.
I also like having some sort of highlighter, like the MeMeMe Highlighter you can read all about  HERE and a concealer. I just gotten the Catrice concealer palette when I took the picture and it was before I had reviewed it HERE . Before that, and now still, I was and am very impressed by the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer .

Of course all of these items are your choice, I just think the deo should be mandatory for every trip.
But let's get to the items I believe you need.

Nail File

Murphy knew it and we know it. Things always happen when you're unprepared so the chances of a nail breaking or chipping are much higher while traveling. Also because you have to deal with a lot of new situations and nails might break just because, so having the saving instrument is always a good idea.

Nail Clipper

The safe alternative. When traveling by plane you're likely to get in trouble for carrying scissors with you, so  having something you can trim your nails with that you're allowed to carry on you on all means of transportation can come in handy.

Tweezers

There will always be a little rebel hair that will be bothering you and I tell you from experience, you will want to remove it sooner rather than later.
It has also happened to me that I got a wood splitter in my finger and tweezers saved the day.

Eyebrow Brush

It's the easiest way to get those brows in order if you don't have a brow kit with you. At least you can give them some shape and direction.

Makeup Brush

You never know what you need it for and you can use it for almost anything. Creamy product, powder, lipstick and even for eyeliner if you make it wet and use the thinnest point of the tip.

Eyelash Curler

I find it to be a very useful thing. It opens up your eyes and can make you look more awake in a second.Even if you have no makeup on, it still makes you look more fresh.

What about you, what are your essentials?
